About Apple Pay

1.What is Apple Pay
Apple Pay is a mobile payment service that utilizes Near Field Communication (NFC) to initiate secure transactions between contactless payment terminals and Apple devices.
2.What do I need to use Apple Pay?
Here’s what you need:
  • Compatible Apple device
  • Latest version of iOS or watchOS
  • A supporting credit card
  • An Apple ID signed into iCloud account
3.How does Apple Pay work?
Apple Pay uses Near Field Communication (NFC) technology to complete contactless transactions. NFC allows wireless communication of electronic devices over short distances. A NFC contactless reader at checkout and NFC-equipped mobile devices are needed to perform contactless payment.
4.Is Apple Pay a free service?
There are no extra charges for using Apple Pay. However, Fee Schedule for CCB (Asia) Credit Card still applies to Apple Pay transactions.
5.Is it safe to use Apple Pay?
Using Apple Pay is secure and private. When successfully adding your Credit Card to Apple Pay, a unique device-specific Device Account Number will be assigned to the Secure Element within your device. The Secure Element is an industry-standard, certified chip designed to store your payment information safely. During the process, Apple does not have access to or store the actual Credit Card number added to Apple Pay.

When you pay with Apple Pay, you must authenticate with Face ID, Touch ID or a passcode on iPhone or iPad, and Apple Watch must be unlocked. Then the Secure Element provides your Device Account Number and a transaction-specific dynamic security code. During the process, the actual Credit Card number is never shared with merchants.

About Adding Credit Card

1.Which CCB (Asia) Credit Card can I add to Apple Pay?
All CCB (Asia) Visa, Mastercard and UnionPay Credit Cards can be added to Apple Pay. (Except Business Card)
2.I am asked to provide the Security Code when adding Credit Card, where can I find it?
Your CCB (Asia) Credit Card Security Code is the non-embossed 3 digits number printed on the back of your Credit Card. For CCB (Asia) Virtual Credit Cards, please login the mobile banking and view the 3 digit Security Code on “Virtual Card Detail”.
3.Why am I asked to enter a Verification Code?
A Verification Code is used to confirm your identity. This one-time Code will be sent to your registered mobile number through SMS and will expire after a designated time frame. Please call us at +852 3179 5533 if you cannot receive Verification Code.
4.How to set CCB (Asia) Credit Card as my default card?
The first card you add to Apple Pay will be your default card. You can also go to “Settings” > “Wallet & Apple Pay”, then tap “Default Card” and choose your CCB (Asia) Credit Card as your default card. When using Apple pay, your default card will automatically be debited.
5.Each Credit Card can be added once and to one device only?
No. You can add up to 8 Credit Cards to each Apple device. And each Credit Card can be added to a maximum of 9 Apple devices.
6.I have added a Credit Card to my iPhone. Why doesn’t it sync with my iPad?
If you want to add a Credit Card to different devices, you have to add it separately to each device.
7.Is my physical Credit Card still usable after it is added to Apple Pay?
Yes, you can keep using your physical Credit Card after it’s added to Apple Pay.

2.Can I use Apple Pay overseas?
Yes, you can use Apple Pay overseas in stores accepting contactless payment.
3.Is there any transaction limit for Apple Pay?
The transaction limit for Apple Pay is the same as the credit limit of your Credit Card. For each transaction, there may be a transaction limit of HK$500 or HK$1,000 depending on the setting of the contactless terminals.
4.Do I need to connect to Internet when using Apple Pay?
You do not need to connect to Internet for using Apple Pay. You only need it during setup or checking details of your recent transactions.
5.Where can I check my Apple Pay transactions?
You can check the recent 10 transactions via Devices simply by opening Wallet app and tap info icon for details. Apple Pay transactions will be listed on your Credit Card monthly statement as well.
6.Can I earn bonus points/ cash rebate with Apple Pay?
Yes. You will continue to earn bonus points/ cash rebate for Apple Pay transactions.

About Card Management

1.How to secure my Credit Card when using Apple Pay?
  1. You should never disclose your user ID, login password or any personal and security information to other parties.
  2. Change your user ID and login password of your Apple Devices periodically or when necessary.
  3. Do not jailbreak your Apple devices as this can make it open to infection from virus or spyware.
  4. Set a screen lock.
  5. Do not use personal identification number or simple combination as password.
  6. Do not set up others’ fingerprint in your device.
  7. Turn on Apple “Find my iPhone” service. You can disable your Apple Pay remotely with this service if your device is lost or stolen.
  8. Download Apps from trusted sources only.
  9. Do not click distrustful hyperlinks or visit suspected websites.
  10. Use and update anti-virus software regularly.
  11. Accept iOS updates.
  12. When there is any suspicious transaction, you should inform us at +852 3179 5533 immediately.
2.What should I do if my Credit Card is lost or stolen?
You should call our 24-Hour Lost/ Stolen Hotline at +852 3179 5505 once your Credit Card is lost or stolen. Your Credit Card account will be closed and no more transactions can be made. The corresponding Credit Card on Apple devices will be permanently deactivated as well.
3.What should I do if my Apple device is lost or stolen?
You can go to your Apple ID account page or use “Find My iPhone app” to suspend or permanently remove the ability to pay from that device with Apple Pay. You can also call us at +852 3179 5533 to suspend or remove your Credit Cards from Apple Pay.
4.What should I do if I change my Apple device to a new model?
You should delete your CCB (Asia) Credit Card from Apple Pay in the old device first, and then add your Credit Card to Apple Pay on your new device again.
5.Can I continue to use my physical Credit Card if I erase my Apple device?
Yes. Erasing your Apple device will only delete your CCB (Asia) Credit Card from Apple Pay without affecting your physical Credit Card.
6.Can I continue to use Apple Pay if I cancel my linked physical Credit Card?
No. Your linked Card in Apple Pay will be cancelled too as they share the same card account.
7.Do I need to update my Credit Card information with Apple Pay if I get a re-issued Credit Card?
For re-issued Credit Card with a new card number, you need to add your new CCB (Asia) UnionPay Credit Card to Apple Pay but not need to for CCB (Asia) Visa and Mastercard Credit Card. For re-issued Credit Card with a same card number, you do not need to add card again.
8.Is there an expiry date for the Credit Cards in Apple Pay?
The expiry date is the same as your physical Credit Card.
9.How can I remove my Credit Card in Apple Pay?
To remove Credit Card on iPhone or iPad, open Wallet app, tap the Credit Card you want to remove and tap “Remove Card”. To remove Credit Card on Apple Watch, open the Watch app on iPhone, go to “my Watch” tab and scroll down tap “Wallet & Apple Pay”, tap the Credit Card, then tap “Remove Card”.
